In power system, communication regarding operation is very critical and vital. The power lines are originally intended for transmission of AC power in conventional use. Now days these power lines are used for sending and receiving information in between two sub stations or two subscribers etc. 

The basic process involves three steps: 

  • Modulate the data so that it can be sent over transmission medium.
  • Transmit the signal in such a manner to reduce signal distortion.
  • Receive and demodulate the signal to extract the data.

In Power Lines Communication system, there are two major modules. 

1st one is transmitter end i.e. from where sender transmits data through the power line. For this Transmission: circuit protection, data conversion, encryption and safe data uploading are the key concerns.

 2nd module is reception end of data i.e. for data reception: Data conversion, extraction, decryption and safe connectivity are the major concerns.
