By implementing and deploying this we'll be able to solve a major problem faced by health record storage systems in most of the hospitals in Pakistan. This blockchain health record system is designed to enhance interoperability in health record systems, improve how health records are stored, shared, and accessed in Pakistani public and private sector hospitals, and finally increase the security of health records.
This blockchain health record system is designed to enhance interoperability in health record systems. So, any hospitals registered in our blockchain network can update or view patient records.
The core objective of our project is the privacy of patients’ records. Our Health Management System provides a patient record to all the registered hospitals upon request to access the blockchain. The significant feature of this system is that the patient is the owner of his/her record & only he/she can authorize the doctor to create, read and update his/her record.
By using blockchain we are ultimately making the data immutable and tempered proof. Let’s say a doctor tries to change a patient’s record, and for the sake of argument, he is successful in doing so. But there will be a history of transactions by which we can check whether the data is changed or not.
One of the ascendancies of our system is that no single entity has control over the network. Why is that so? Because it is distributed among different nodes (decentralized system) & each node has a copy of the blockchain (health records).
It is almost impossible to alter the date because of the DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology). DLT provides the privilege of increasing security & low risk of altering, deleting, or destroying the data.
Our product will be able to solve a major problem faced by health record storage systems in most of the hospitals in Pakistan. This blockchain health record system is designed to enhance interoperability in health record systems, improve how health records are stored, shared, and accessed in Pakistani public and private sector hospitals, and finally increase the security of health records.
There are many EHR already deployed using centralized data storage but the problem is in a centralized database if a given hospital doesn't want to share the information so let’s say I go to a hospital A every time and they have all my records in their centralized database and this time I met with an accident I went to hospital B, Now what if hospital B want my information from hospital A and hospital A doesn’t want to share the information (information blockage) the second one is what if they want to share the information but what if information in the database is not correct (data corruption) maybe it is corrupted those are some issues with a centralized database. Why would a hospital block information sharing? Maybe they lose patients or maybe they want some reward in return that’s one scenario, so how we can solve that? Instead of saving data in a centralized database where someone has the power to not share my information because they own my data, we will use a decentralized database where a patient will hold the information, so every hospital you visit they will request your information from you so you can provide the access.
Our project will prevent data corruption and will increase the privacy of patients' data. The privacy and security offered by blockchain records mean patients retain some control and their history cannot be transferred between professionals without their permission. Blockchain has a wide range of applications and uses in healthcare. The ledger technology facilitates the secure transfer of patient medical records and manages the medicine supply chain. We will achieve this by connecting all the hospitals through different nodes on a decentralized system i.e., Ethereum blockchain private network. We will deploy a private blockchain for the only purpose that it will be used within the internal networking system of the hospitals which will act as nodes for our blockchain. None of the individual nodes (hospitals) will have control over the blockchain networks. The main objective of a medical record is to provide a complete and accurate description of the patient’s medical history. This includes medical conditions, diagnoses, the care, and treatment you provide, and the results of such treatments. A well-documented medical record reflects all clinically relevant aspects of the patient’s health and serves as an effective communication vehicle.
