In this experimental study, the effects of Replacing Sand with Waste Marble Powder on Properties of Recycled Coarse Aggregates Concrete using Waste Marble Dust (WMD) as a fine material and Recycled Coarse aggregates (RCA) as coarse material on the mechanical properties of the concrete have been investigated. For this purpose, two different series of concrete-mixtures were prepared. In order to determine the effect of the Waste Marble Powder on the compressive, Tensile and Flexural strength with respect to the curing age, compressive, tensile and Flexural strength of the samples were recorded at the curing ages of 14 and 28 days. It was observed that the addition of Waste Marble Powder (WMD) such that would replace the fine material at particular proportions has displayed an enhancing effect on compressive strength.
Project Objective:
To produce Cost-effective and Environment friendly concrete.
Socio-Economic Benefits:
-Due to the natural resource depletion and its negative impact on the environment, this experimental work studies the effect of two solid waste material, Waste Marble Powder (WMP) and Recycled Coarse Aggregate (RCA) on the strength properties of concrete when utilized as fine and coarse aggregate replacement.
-This solution is different as it effectively utilizes waste materials on Land filling sites as well as conserve the natural sand.
-Being a waste material, marble powder is freely available except for the transportation costs.
-Making use of recycled aggregates over virgin materials can save money as they are less expensive to produce.
-Providing the construction industry worldwide an opportunity by using these waste materials in normal concrete.
Project Methodologies:
-The mixing was done in concrete mixer (Pan Mixer) for maximum 8 minutes.
-Cylindrical specimen of 100 x 200 mm and Beam specimen of 100 x 100 x 500 mm were cast with the help of vibrator.
-After 24 hours, samples were demolded and specimen were cured in a water tank.
-Samples were taken off from water tank after 14 and 28 days of curing for following tests.
