The project focuses on building a smart wireless home security system which sends alerts to the owner by using Internet in case of any trespass and raises an alarm optionally. IoT conceptualizes the idea of remotely connecting and monitoring real world objects (things) through the Internet. The idea behind this project is to develop an efficient face detection and recognition system. The system uses Camera to detect and recognize the person from the local database created for the family members of the house. In addition, due to pandemic situation this system also has the feature to detect the person even when someone is in mask. Security, Monitoring and Control to Automation in real time are the key components of this system. The proposed system provides several features namely, Facial Detection and Recognition with and without Mask, Outer wall Security, Fire Alarm System, Automatic Lights and Fan Control and Power Monitoring.
The primary objective of the project is to design and develop A low-cost IoT-based Home Security using Computer Vision. The purpose for having a wireless home security system is to minimize break-ins. For that, the specific project objectives are as follow.
• Face Detection and Recognition-based Door access Control
• Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-based Door access Control.
• Outer wall Security
• Fire Alarm System
• Power Monitoring
• Room Lights Control using Bi-Directional Counter
• Temperature and Humidity Control
Methodology:
Our proposed system consists of Arduino which is cost-effective and required very little power to operate. IoT and Arduino-based home security systems use several sensors, namely Humidity and temperature, Flame, smoke/Gas, IR, and ultrasonic sensors. Data from these sensors transfer to Arduino and then sends data over to the WIFI-Module ESP8266. If any type of human movement is sensed near the entrance of the house, the system must send the alert message to the concerned security person by means of GSM technology. Face detection and recognition Module using computer vision is integrated with door lock, it will allow only the authorized people to enter the premises. For more secure environment, we used RFID tags that are also integrated with the door of the control room, the door will open with specific RFID tags. For home automation and home security, we are using Arduino, and IoT mobile App (Blynk). It has a very low power requirement which makes it the affordable and cheaper. It required a minimum of 5 volts to work. One of the plus point is that we can replace any part of this system without disturbing other modules. For facial detection and recognition, Code is designed in python which detects and recognizes the image of the valid person and the door will open. The framework consists of Arduino/controller (Hardware), IoT Mobile App (Software Server), and GSM/WIFI module (Internet). The face recognition system has registered members’ images in its database. Any new person registration in the database can easily be done. When someone is at the door the motion sensor will trigger the camera and it will capture the image and see If there is a face in it, after that it will match the specific face with the registered persons in the database. If the algorithm finds out any matches, it will open the entrance door otherwise the system sends that captured picture to the user and asks for permission whether user wants him/her to enter the house or not. If no then the system will not be opened the door but if yes, the door will be opened. Besides Face detection and recognition, the overall code is being made in Arduino IDE for RFID module, Outer wall Security, fire monitoring, power monitoring, automatic lights control and humidity/temperature control.
