The husk is a by-product produced during the threshing process of wheat. Due to high blow pressure, husk along with dust particles spreads in the surrounding atmosphere which causes breathing difficulties to the labors that are working on the thresher machine and the surrounding population. Our project’s objective is to settle and collect all the husk particles coming from the machine during the process of threshing.
Pakistan is an agricultural country. Wheat is a staple food yield of Pakistan, overwhelming all harvests in grounds and creation. Wheat represents 37.1 % of the harvest region, 65 % of the food grain land, and 70 % of the creation. From the estimate of 2020, the production of wheat was 24,946 thousand tons. In 1971, wheat production was 24,946 thousand tons and it increased at an annual rate of 3.11%.
And for cutting the wheat crops in Pakistan, mostly the threshing process is used. The threshing process is the process in which seeds are removed from the stalks and husk. So, it is the process of slackening the eatable piece of grain from the straw to which it is connected. So after the threshing process, we will have two main things i.e. the husk and the grains, and these two things are useful products.
Threshing machines are used for the threshing process that separates the seeds from the stalks and husks. In this process, the seeds are collected on one side while the husk leaves through the Exhaust tube and is heaped on the other side in the open air. It does as such by beating the plant to make the seeds drop out.
Problem identification:- During the threshing process, a lot of dust is produced which cause dust allergies and other medical issues.
Our main objective: -
This is a real life problem and the dust produced during the process cause a severe medical issues. Firstly, we identified a problem and then, we started working on it to overcome this issue.
As, cyclone separator is widely used in industries for the collection of dust particles. We selected a cyclone separator for our problem.
SOCIO - ECONOMIC BENEFITS :
We are dealing with a real world problem. As during the threshing process, a lot of dust is produced which cause dust allergies and other medical issues and also it is very difficult for farmers to collect husk after threshing process. So, we are using cyclone separator as a husk and dust collector at the outlet of the machine’s duct to overcome these issues. We will collect the husk and dust particles to avoid the spread of dust in the surrounding atmosphere.
Steps Followed:-
Mixture’s Velocity
We used Anemometer to measure the mixture’s (Husk+ Dust) velocity.
Model Used
We used a Shepherd and Lapple model to design our cyclone.
Fabrication
Material
Manufacturing Processes:-
Laser sheet metal cutting
We cut our sheet metal with CNC laser sheet metal cutting machine.
Bending
To make a cyclone inlet duct, we have done sheet bending with the help of Press bending machine.
Rolling
We used two types of rolling processes:-
Simple rolling was for upper body of cyclone and conical rolling was for lower conical body of cyclone.
TIG Welding
To assemble all the cyclone parts, we did a TIG welding.
