• Open House and Job Fair - Spring 2023

    COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Wah Campus organized Open House and Job Fair on June 8, 2023 for the graduating students of Spring Semester 2023 from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Management Sciences and Computer Sciences Department.

    In this event, more than 600 graduating students showcased their Final Year Projects (FYPs) which portrayed their professional skills. The participating industry keenly observed the talent of students exhibited through these projects and shortlisted the talented students and conducted detailed interviews to select them for jobs in their companies.

    Mr. Fasih-ur-Rehman, Assistant Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering briefly described the activities of the Career Development Center at the Wah Campus and welcomed the participants.

    Prof. Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig, S.I., Chairman, Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of the Industry-Academia partnership in inculcating scientific research work environment in the country which is vital for the prosperity of Pakistan. Dr. Baig extended the availability of funding from the platform of PSF for our young researchers. He emphasized industry-specific and solution-oriented scientific research.

    The Campus Director, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid, T.I., welcomed the participating industry and emphasized the concept of student welfare at CUI Wah in his opening remarks. He added that when industry and academia work together, students are able to benefit from real-world experience and practical training that helps them prepare for their future careers. This not only enhances their education but also helps to ensure that they are able to succeed in the competitive job market. The Campus Director pointed out the availability of the best talent here at CUI Wah and persuaded the companies to hire them. The Campus Director also highlighted the need for the provision of a supportive, nurturing, and disciplined environment for the overall well-being of our students. He advised graduates that discipline is the key factor for overall success.

    More than 145 companies participated, shortlisted, interviewed graduating students, and offered jobs. Judges from industry and academia evaluated these projects, appreciated, and guided them with their valuable input. Industrial and academic representatives, faculty, and students visited and inspected the flagship projects.237 projects from the six different disciplines, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Management Sciences were displayed to highlight the various facets of academic and professional grooming at CUI, Wah Campus.

    Mr. Junaid Alam, CEO of VOLT Pro Engineering and an alumni of the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department of CUI Wah shared his experience of becoming an entrepreneur and establishing three companies in a short span of time. He emphasized the role of real understanding and applicability of the basic ideas for business success.

    In the closing ceremony, Dr. Majid Babar Bhatti, Executive Director of the National Information Technology Board (NITB), a seasoned ICT strategist, and expert in Cyber Security Risk Management, Digital Transformation, and Service Delivery was the Chief Guest. He highlighted the need for Industry-Academia partnerships. He was impressed by the quality of all exhibited projects.

    The chief guest of the closing ceremony and Director Campus congratulated the winners and runner-up teams of the FYPs and distributed certificates to the winners and runners-up of final-year projects. The chief guest and alumni were presented with Campus Shield by the Campus Director.
