This project investigated the effects of Nano-Silica (NS) on concrete containing recycled concrete aggregate (RCA). The study found that the addition of NS improved and destructive non-destructive parameters of the concrete .Also the characteristics of recycled aggregate concrete resembled those of natural aggregate concrete by addition of Nano-silica.

Objectives

The main objectives of this research are: Utilization of Recycled aggregate concrete in concrete to make it sustainable and achieving characteristics comparable to natural concrete aggregate. To determine the feasibility and potential benefits of using Nano silica in Recycled aggregate concrete.

Socio-Economic Benefit

Resource Conservation Waste Reduction and Recycling Cost savings Market expansion for recycled materials Improved infrastructure performance

Methodologies

Methodology is same as conventional concrete Materials Mix Proportions Mix Design Preparation and Casting of concrete Testing

Outcome

This study investigates the impact of Nano-Silica (NS) on the behavior of concrete made from Recycled aggregate concrete. Concrete mixes containing both natural and recycled aggregate were used with the addition of a small fraction of NS that was 1%, 2%, and 3% by weight of cement. The experimental results indicate that the addition of NS enhances compressive strength, tensile strength, and non-destructive parameters. Furthermore, the study shows that the properties of recycled aggregate concrete are comparable to those of natural aggregate concrete with the addition of a small amount (3%) of NS.
