Prop Pursuit is a multiplayer PC game where players take on the roles of Props or Hunters in a strategic hide-and-seek challenge. Props disguise themselves as objects in the environment, while Hunters search for and eliminate them. The game includes mechanics such as movement, jumping, shape-shifting, decoy placement, and shooting. Developed using Unreal Engine, the project showcases our understanding of gameplay mechanics, multiplayer systems, and level design.
Develop a fun, strategy-focused multiplayer game. Implement LAN-based multiplayer. Add special abilities for Props and Hunters.
Promotes teamwork and cooperation through multiplayer design. Inspires creativity with unique hiding mechanics and map designs. Acts as a learning platform for aspiring developers studying game design. Helps reduce stress and improves cognitive functions through interactive gameplay.
Agile Development -The project followed an iterative approach, developing and testing in small cycles. -Features were added progressively (e.g., movement, shape-shift, multiplayer). -Allowed flexibility to adapt and improve based on testing results. Modular Design -Game components (player characters, map, UI, networking) were developed separately. -Helped isolate and troubleshoot issues efficiently. -Simplified future updates or feature additions. Playtesting and Debugging -Continuous testing was done after implementing each feature. -Bugs and performance issues (e.g., character spawn glitches) were identified and resolved iteratively. -Testing was done on PC .
Functional Multiplayer Game: - Successfully developed Prop Pursuit, a two-role multiplayer game where players can either disguise as props or hunt them down. Platform Compatibility: - Core gameplay runs smoothly on PC. Mobile support was explored but found to be currently unsupported due to optimization and UI issues. Skill Development: -Gained hands-on experience in Unreal Engine 5, including: Multiplayer networking Blueprint scripting UI/UX design Optimization techniques (LOD, object pooling) Problem-Solving: Tackled real-world development challenges such as lag from combining assets, spawn point glitches, and platform-specific UI issues.
